Councilman Mike Jones has seen firsthand the struggle of using sparse resources to do more with less at the local level and wants to invest state dollars into equity driven education like universal pre-K.

As a black man, Mike knows people of color are over represented in the criminal justice system and underrepresented in elected office. We need to rectify some of the wrongs of the past but more importantly stop the next generation from being pulled into the system. Mike wants to slow the school to prison pipeline, reform policing, help returning citizens get into the workforce, and eliminate mandatory minimum sentences.

Mike has and will always fight for women to control their own healthcare decisions. He feels strongly that the government should never limit access to or prevent a woman from making their own choices.

Notably, Dr. Jones has made significant strides in public service, having been elected to represent the 77th District in the Virginia House of Delegates. His dedication to serving the community extends beyond his pastoral responsibilities.

Driven by his father's teachings, Dr. Jones has integrated the message of resilience into his conversations, speeches, and sermons. Prior to answering his spiritual calling, he had a successful career with Pepsi Cola and founded his own insurance agency.

Dr. Jones resides in Richmond, VA where he raised his daughter, Jocelyn, a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, and a son, Jalon, who is in Florida pursuing an NFL career. His unwavering dedication to uplifting others and creating positive change continues to inspire many.

This billallows a trustee to terminate a trustwith a total value of less than $100,000 without requiring a court order. The trustee must notify any qualified beneficiaries or co-trustees.

HB 336 stipulates that an agent under a power of attorneydoes nothave the authority to create, modify, or revoke a transfer-on-death deedunless they are explicitly grantedthe power to create or change beneficiary designations by law.

The billpermits any localityto include individuals in its group life, accident, and health insurance programs if those individuals are eligible for coverage under the existing laws governing private group accident and sickness insurance policies.

Delegate Jones has garnered a reputation of fighting for the streets. Black, White or Brown, Mike has sought to amplify the voices of those that are too often overlooked. In a part of the City that has been left out of so many conversations, Mike has a way of matching problems with legislation. He has shown his ability to lead during tough times by chairing the Council's Finance Committee, calling for more fiscal responsibility. He is willing to say what so many are afraid to say in a tone of empathy and compassion. Mike tries to educate and inform while others might seek to alienate.

Delegate Jones led the fight to gain local control of the Confederate Monuments in the City of Richmond. Standing alone he endured back lash and death threats. That did not stop him. He is leading the charge for more accountability with Law Enforcement seeking to move to a true form of Public Safety.
